K362 Receives Outstanding Project Award
4/25/2007
Indianapolis -- Eli Lilly and Company's K362 Project received the 'Outstanding Project' award at the 2007 Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety Awards Banquet held on April 12, 2007.
Safety Management Group Safety Advisors Collin McGrady and Justin Griffith are currently providing support to the project leadership. Numerous safety advisors have provided essential services to contractors on the site including: Tom Riley, Michael Martin, Jenna Lydick, Dave Remter, Marc Brewer, Mark Sheehan, J.D. Bailey, and Michael Winkler.
The LTC North Projects (including K362) is an important project for Eli Lilly and Company and Indianapolis. According to Scott Grimes of MICCS:
'[This] particularly complex project stood out above the rest as a project where safety practices and qualifications were scrutinized on a daily basis. For example, each and every day every worker on site was required to have a 'Safe to Work' permit and also conducted job hazard analysis. The judges felt that the success of this project in large part resulted from safety being the number one focus for each employee prior to beginning their daily tasks.
The project incorporated a radically different approach when it initiated in 2002, relying on an outside construction management firm to oversee the project. These series of projects that encompass the LTC North campus were the largest capitol dollar expenditure to occur at LTC and were over a half a billion in expense. The program has been successful with K360 and K362 both being awarded the 'MICCS Outstanding Project' awards.
Special congratulations to Collin McGrady and all the safety advisors who have contributed to the success of this project for all of their efforts to promote contractor safety.
