MSA Recalls Fall Protection Devices

12/1/2004
MSA is currently investigating an issue involving the Dyna-Lock Self-Retracting Lanyard (SRL) and Dynevac, Dynavac II and Lynx Rescuers.

MSA's initial findings revealed that their supplier improperly manufactured some of the housing sub-assemblies of the SRLs and Rescuers. Although the units will lock in the event of a fall, the line extension (deceleration distance) exceeds the MSA specification of 40 inches.

This condition occurs in only a small percentage of the units and there have not been any field incidents or injuries related to this condition. However, the units must be opened and examined in order to identify and correct the issue.

This notice is directed to all purchasers of products that potentially could contain this manufacturing condition. MSA asks that you carefully review this notice and immediately remove from service all affected SRLs and Rescuers.
