Indianapolis -- Each year, the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Constructino Safety (MICCS) celebrates “Safety 1st in Construction Day” on the day of the MICCS Anniversary and Awards Banquet. Although safety is important each and every day, companies should use April 16th as a day to renew an annual commitment to safety and to the elimination of injuries on jobsites. Many companies around the state host a breakfast or luncheon for their workers in order to participate in this celebration. During this company held event, MICCS hard hat stickers are passed out to each employee that include a safety message and names of those who died in construction related accidents.
THESE STICKERS ARE FREE! ORDER AS MANY AS YOU NEED. In order to provide the stickers to your company prior to April 16th, stickers should be ordered by April 10th.
While passing out the hard hat stickers, MICCS offers a special “Safety 1st in Construction Day” Tool Box Talk to read. The talk recognizes those who died from construction related activities and then provides an inspirational message devoted to making safety a priority so that others do not succumb to the same fate as did the fallen workers.
On behalf of the MICCS Board of Directors and the MICCS Awards Committee, I encourage as much participation as we can get this year. The workforce is the front line of safety for your company. Providing a special day for safety and recognition of all their hard work goes a long way! Please share with me what you are doing for your company so that the association may see the impact of this day.
